Credit reference agencies hold information about your credit agreements (including any arrears), county court judgments (CCJs) and electoral roll information.

There are 2 main credit referencing agencies though there are a few smaller ones appearing

These are Experian and Equifax. Different lenders use different credit referencing agencies but what they aquire from them is known as a credit report which along with other factors enables them to create a credit score.
